Where To Buy Minoura Rda-850D Rim Drive Rear Wheel Trainer

Last Fall I shopped until my head hurt...fluid? magnetic? tire or rim? etc. I opted for this rim drive, and I'm thankful I made the right choice the first time. I bought the "dial" versus the remote version - your own bike's gears are the best resistance adjustment you can have!

My set-up is a Trek 820 - Even though this rim driven unit doesn't care what tires you have, I changed the stock knobbies to Kenda Kross Plus Front/Rear Slick XC Tire, 26 x 1.95" (road bike manners w/ trail edges). Popping your bike in and out of the unit is a snap. I takes all of 20 seconds to mount or unmount the bike. Great in Spring/Fall when you can occasionally get outside.

Anyway, this thing is solid to the core. Whisper quiet (not having owned a tire-drive unit, I can't compare, but this thing has zero sound). I had 4 months of heavy use on it last winter, and couldn't be happier. Price was lower last year - I think I bought from "GreenMountain" (through Amazon) for about $132. BTW, Thought I'd save the $20 for a CycleOps block and use a phone book - mistake - buy a block.

Bottom line = I was looking for a compliment and occasional alternative to my home treadmill and dumbells - without dropping $700+ for a bulky, single purposed bike machine - this was exactly what I needed/wanted, and it reintroduced me to an old friend - my bike!
